HI NENC are working in collaboration with NENC ICB, to deliver a ‘back to basics’ education programme to healthcare professionals working in and supporting primary care in the region for hypertension.
The aim of the session is to re-engage primary care colleagues with BPO requirements/targets. NENC were the highest performing locality for BP targets (CVD prevent) in 2022/23, however this is no longer the case. We hope that this education event will renew engagement with CVD prevent targets and national KPIs. Identification and treatment of hypertension continues to be a key target in the QOF.
Come along to this education event to hear about:
- Find hypertension: Use CDRC searches to identify patients who are not treated to target.
- Do: take accurate measurements and provide patients with self-management information, including know your numbers.
- Follow hypertension annual review guidance – including urine sample and HbA1c test.
- Take a MECC approach to hypertension – Offer all patients with CVD, CKD and diabetes a blood pressure check annually.
We are delighted to welcome the following speakers:
- Jack Lyon, Project Delivery Lead | Cardiovascular Disease, NENC ICB
- Catherine Tucker, Senior Clinical Pharmacist Lipid clinic and Integrated Care Team, Northumbria Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust
- Tracy Marshall, CVD Programme Manager, HI NENC
The NHS long term plan states: ‘Heart and circulatory disease, also known as cardiovascular disease (CVD), causes a quarter of all deaths in the UK and is the largest cause of premature mortality in deprived areas. This is the single biggest area where the NHS can save lives over the next 10 years.
Early detection and treatment of CVD can help patients live longer, healthier lives. Too many people are still living with undetected, high-risk conditions such as high blood pressure, raised cholesterol, and atrial fibrillation (AF)’
Therefore educating healthcare professionals in early detection and prevention is key to preventing CVD events.
