Health Innovation North East North Cumbria (HINENC) are running Overprescribing Masterclasses as part of their delivery of the HINENC Regional Overprescribing Programme.
The Overprescribing Masterclasses aim to help GPs, Pharmacists and Advanced Nurse Practitioners (ANPs) carry out structured medication reviews and stop inappropriate medicines.
The local masterclass sessions will be run by a Lead Senior Advanced Clinical Pharmacist Practitioner an accredited Polypharmacy Action Learning Set trainer.
These sessions are clinician facing and are open to colleagues in the North East and North Cumbria area.
Please note: Numbers of delegates are limited to 25 for this session and will be allocated on a first come, first served basis. Prescribing data packs will be purchased by HI NENC for those registered for these sessions containing Business Services Authority (BSA) Polypharmacy comparators data.

Important to Note:
Please note lunch is not provided, Tea, coffee and water will be available throughout the session.
By registering for this event you consent to being contacted by a member of the HINENC Overprescribing Team to ascertain which data pack / set you will need to be provided with to accompany your Masterclass session.
Registration will close for this event on Tuesday 11th March in order for data packs to be prepared and assembled ready for sharing.
Day One Masterclass
You are invited to register to attend day one of the masterclass which will be run as a half-day virtual session where the attendees can expect to explore all the contributing factors to this issue and experience peer learning around this complex topic.
Date: Wednesday 19th March 1 – 4pm
Time: Registration at Venue 12:30pm, the session will start promptly at 1pm.
Following the session, delegates will be asked to go undertake a structured medication review with a patient using the shared decision-making techniques covered during the session.
Day Two Masterclass
Following attendance at day one of the masterclass, you will be invited to register to attend day 2 of the masterclass which will be held online usually over the lunchtime period. We will confirm date in due course.
On day 2 of the masterclass we invite a local Geriatrician to provide additional insight where the attendees might have questions/queries around overprescribing and are a key component in increasing clinician’s confidence to stop medicines safely in older people.
