ICB Health and Growth Accelerator: Regional Innovation Call

In December 2024, the North East and North Cumbria Integrated Care Board announced the exciting news that the region had been chosen as one of three Health and Growth Accelerator Sites, created as part of a £45 million NHS trial, to boost health and support people in work.

Apply for your chance to take part

As part of this trial, three ‘Health and Growth Accelerators’ were created within South Yorkshire, West Yorkshire, and North East and North Cumbria. Ultimately, the parts of the country most affected by economic inactivity driven by ill health.

The North East and North Cumbria ICB has appointed Health Innovation North East and North Cumbria (HI NENC) to support the innovation aspects of the regional Accelerator.

The Accelerator will focus on supporting improved population health outcomes and reducing economic inactivity, particularly for people affected by:

  • Musculoskeletal (MSK)
  • Mental Health
  • Menopause
  • Cardiometabolic Related Conditions

We are also keen to evaluate if the shift to prevention associated with economic inactivity, in particular, focused on:

  • Obesity
  • Smoking
  • Alcohol
