Medipex NHS Innovation Awards and Showcase 2025

A showcase of clinical need led innovation at the 17th Medipex Innovation Awards

On 25th June 2025, a collection of around 90 healthcare innovators from the NHS, universities, companies, charities, funders and innovation support organisations all came together online to celebrate the innovative achievements of our NHS colleagues from across the country. As well as a showcase of our 12 competition finalists, other highlights of the event included two keynote speeches, one from Dil Rathore and Moninder Bhogal from the Leeds Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, outlining their innovation progress since winning one of the categories at the 2024 awards, and the second from Charmaine Mulligan from SBRI Healthcare, regarding funding disruptive innovations.

The programme was interspersed with break-out sessions hosted by some of our Silver event supporters, on topics including child healthtech innovation, collaborating with universities, why to engage expert advice early and how to use market insights to accelerate innovation development.  A huge thank you to NIHR Healthtech Research Centre in Paediatrics and Child Health, Nexus and the Medipex team for their really informative sessions.

Congratulations to all our finalists and in particular our category winners from Hull University Teaching Hospitals NHS Trust, South Tyneside and Sunderland NHS Foundation Trust, York and Scarborough Teaching Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust and Northamptonshire Healthcare NHS Foundation Trust. More information on all our finalists and winners can be found on our awards website www.medipexawards.co.uk/finalists.

Medipex CEO Lindsay Georgopoulos says “Once again the judging panel was blown away by the quality of the applications and the range of innovations submitted to the competition.  The entries with supporting videos were a huge hit with the audience, each using a different method of conveying information about the problem that they’re solving, and the benefits offered by their solution.  A huge thank you to everyone who took the time to enter, and congratulations to all our finalists and winners”

We would like to give special thanks to the judging panel, made up of experts from Medipex Ltd., Health Innovation Yorkshire and Humber, the NIHR Healthtech Research Centre in Paediatrics and Child Health, NIHR Devices for Dignity, York St. John University, Jackdaw4 and Market Access and Reimbursement Solutions Ltd.  The judging panel had a very challenging time in selecting the finalists from a pool of over 30 high-quality entries from 25 different lead organisations.

Thank you also to our other Silver supporter Medilink and Bronze supporters Health Innovation Yorkshire and Humber, P3 Medical, Health Innovation North East and North Cumbria, and Kirk Newsholme, who made this event happen and enabled us to provide bamboo trophies to each of our finalists.

Medipex are looking forward to engaging with all the award entrants to see how we can help them move their project forwards and increase the impact of their innovation.
