Learning Disabilities and Autism

Developing a Digital Platform to Deliver Mandatory Learning Disabilities and Autism (LDA) Training

In July 2022 an amendment was made to the Health & Social Care Act that all regulated health and care providers must provide mandatory LDA awareness training to their whole workforce that is appropriate to their role. A Code of Practice is yet to be published by the Government, but it is expected to say this training needs to be co-developed and co-delivered by experts with  lived experience.

The NHS England response has been the development of the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training. This is a 2-tier programme and is to be delivered every 3 years.

Health Innovation North East and North Cumbria (HI NENC) have collaborated with the Learning Disabilities Network (LDN) to develop a digital platform to deploy this mandatory training, track progress across the NENC footprint and create a sustainable model of delivery.
