{"id":288,"date":"2018-06-14T15:17:24","date_gmt":"2018-06-14T14:17:24","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/dottyabouthosting.com\/clients\/ahsn\/?page_id=288"},"modified":"2023-12-04T17:02:17","modified_gmt":"2023-12-04T17:02:17","slug":"measurement","status":"publish","type":"page","link":"https:\/\/healthinnovationnenc.org.uk\/what-we-do\/improving-population-health\/measurement\/","title":{"rendered":"Measurement"},"content":{"rendered":"<p class=\"lead\">The\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.neqos.nhs.uk\/\">North East Quality Observatory Service<\/a>\u00a0(NEQOS)\u00a0 has been working closely with The AHSN NENC to produce strategically and operationally important insights into the health status of the region and the healthcare system.<\/p>\n<p>The three main outputs of this are:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>The outcome measurement framework<\/li>\n<li>The health surveillance report<\/li>\n<li>Production of a measurement framework for Patient Safety.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<h3><strong>Outcome Measurement Framework<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>One element of this is the design and production of measures to support Programme leads to identify priorities and evaluate the impact of initiatives with respect to improvement in quality or clinical variation. This is an important piece of work as the framework produced across each Programme will ultimately:<\/p>\n<ul>\n<li>Provide objective evidence of the current major strengths and challenges for the AHSN NENC in terms of population health and healthcare<\/li>\n<li>Enable The AHSN NENC to objectively monitor changes (improvements) in the region\u2019s population health and healthcare processes\/outcomes<\/li>\n<li>Enable The AHSN NENC to monitor and evaluate the impact of its initiatives (measure success).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<p>In support of the Cardiovascular Disease Prevention programme, NEQOS has produced <a href=\"https:\/\/healthinnovationnenc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/NEQOS-Atrial-Fibrillation-metrics-report-FINAL-16.12.22.pdf\">an Atrial Fibrillation Metrics Report<\/a>, which contains the latest information available with regard to atrial fibrillation (AF) and stroke activity across the NENC and sub-ICB location level.<\/p>\n<p>In support of the Respiratory Programme, NEQOS has produced <a href=\"https:\/\/healthinnovationnenc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/NEQOS-Asthma-care-in-the-North-East-and-North-Cumbria-May-2023.pdf\">a report on asthma care in the NENC<\/a>. Using the priorities outlined in the NHS RightCare Toolkit, it describes the risk factors for asthma, the quality of care delivered to those with asthma, and outcomes.<\/p>\n<p>In support of the Mental Health Programme and building on the analyses of suicide and self-harm produced as part of the NEQOS Health Surveillance Report, NEQOS produced a report containing <a href=\"https:\/\/healthinnovationnenc.org.uk\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/08\/NEQOS-Further-analysis-of-self-harm-in-the-NENC-June-2023.pdf\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noopener\">further analysis of self-harm in the NENC<\/a>. It provides more information on hospital activity as a result of self-harm in the NENC as well as other mental health care activity designed to prevent self-harm and suicide.<\/p>\n<h3><strong>Surveillance Report<\/strong><\/h3>\n<p>NEQOS, on behalf of the AHSN NENC has developed a report based on the Public Health Outcomes Framework (PHOF), in addition to data from NHS Digital and the Office for National Statistics (ONS).<\/p>\n<p>The Population Health and Healthcare Surveillance report provides a single reference source containing a \u00a0regional oversight of activity across all areas of health and healthcare. The aim is to support those involved in healthcare in understanding the main challenges across the region. It highlights strong healthcare in the face of social and economic challenges.
