Mary Fairfield, Public Health Practitioner , South Tyneside Council
Biography :
My name is Mary Fairfield. I am one of the Public Health Practitioners in South Tyneside, my focus is the wider determinants of health.I originally trained as a nurse in Leicestershire. After a spell as a sister in Accident and Emergency in the Southeast, I am becoming a Resuscitation Training Officer in the West Midlands. This was followed by a move to Public Health, which at that time was part of a Joint Policy Unit between Adult Social Care and the Primary Care Trust. Because of national changes in 2011, I TUPE transferred a team of staff to a social enterprise with charity status to deliver Local Authority commissioned Integrated Lifestyle Services. Firstly, in Sandwell then Walsall, both of which are towns in the Black County in the West Midlands. More recently I took the opportunity to return to Public Health in South Tyneside when I relocated to the Northeast.
