Accelerating patient access to innovative medicines and technologies
The AHSN Network and Accelerated Access Collaborative (AAC) are working with PrescQIPP, an organisation that supports optimised prescribing for patients, to deliver a series of webinars for those working in pharmacy and medicines.
The webinars focus on accelerating patient access to new treatments, technologies and medicines through the spread of innovative practice in service delivery via the Rapid Uptake Products (RUPs) and MedTech Funding Mandate (MTFM) programmes.
Topics will include:
- The role of the AAC in the health and care system and how the AHSN Network can help health and care organisations to enhance pathways through the RUP and MTFM products and programmes
- Severe/uncontrolled asthma diagnostic and treatment innovations
- Cholesterol-lowering medicines on the lipids pathway.
There will be an opportunity for delegates to ask questions in a Q&A during each webinar.
Session 1 – The role of the AAC and AHSN Network and an overview of the RUP and MTFM programmes
Date and time: Wednesday 22 September, 10-11 am
Stuart Monk, National Programme Director for the RUP and MTFM programmes, from the AHSN Network and Jenny Turton, Deputy Director for Innovation, Research and Life Sciences, from the AAC will provide an overview of their organisations’ role in the health and care ecosystem and a comprehensive overview of the RUPs and MTFM programmes.
Session 2 – Accelerating patient access to severe/uncontrolled asthma diagnostic and treatment innovations

Specialists from across the AHSNs will discuss accelerating patient access to severe/uncontrolled asthma diagnostic and treatment innovations across primary and secondary care.
This session will give an overview of what is taking place across the country, equip delegates with the information they need to take forward pathway changes and show attendees how to get involved in work in their region.
Session 3 – Accelerating patient access to cholesterol-lowering medicines on the lipids pathway
Date and time: Wednesday 20 October, 10-11 am
Specialists from across the AHSNs discuss accelerating patient access to cholesterol-lowering medicines on the lipids pathway.
This session will give an overview of what is taking place across the country, equip delegates with the information they need to take forward pathway changes and show attendees how to get involved in work in their region.
