The Academic Health Science Network for the North East and North Cumbria (AHSN NENC) is today announcing that its CEO, Dr Séamus O’Neill, will be leaving the organisation at the end of August, to take up the position of CEO of the Northern Health Science Alliance (NHSA).

Chairman of the AHSN NENC, Dr Arnab Basu, said “On behalf of the Board of the AHSN NENC I would like to thank Séamus, who as the founding CEO, has built the organisation and the operational team, ensuring the delivery of all aspects of the vision of the AHSN NENC  and the provision of high quality services to all our Member Organisations, partners, and wider stakeholders.

Séamus has been an exceptional leader of the organisation, who has over the last six years built the AHSN NENC from a start-up to what it is today.  I wish Séamus every success in his new role and look forward to the AHSN NENC working with him as a member of the NHSA.

The Board of the AHSN NENC will undertake a thorough process for the recruitment and subsequent appointment of the next CEO, and the team will continue to deliver on the Programmes and services on behalf of our Member Organisations and other stakeholders.”

Dr Séamus O’Neill said:

“I have had a fantastic six years building the AHSN into what it is today, I leave the organisation in excellent hands. We have a strong, committed team who are continually pushing past what I believed possible. The next stage of development within the AHSN is sure to be exciting and I am delighted my new role within the NHSA will ensure I can still collaborate with the AHSN Network. I’d like to thank everyone I have worked with over the last six years and wish you well for the future.”
