Under the Equality Act 2010, organisations have a legal duty to make changes in their approach or provision to ensure that services are as accessible to people with disabilities as they are for everybody else. These changes are called reasonable adjustments. The Reasonable Adjustment Digital Flag is a locally and nationally available record. It enables health and care workers to record, share and view details of reasonable adjustments across digital systems, wherever the person is treated. This masterclass will share an overview of the recently published Information Standard Notice and the experience of one practice in using the flag.
Following the Masterclass you will have a clearer understanding of:
- Why the reasonable adjustments flag is needed
- How the reasonable adjustments flag works
- What practices need to do to comply with the Information Standard Notice
- Resources available to support the public in understanding reasonable adjustments
This session will be presented by:
- Julie Tucker, Project Manager, North East & Cumbria Learning Disability Network, NHS England (working on behalf of NENC Integrated Care Board)
- Dr Hannah Brown, GP and SME for the Reasonable Adjustment Digital Flag, NHS England and Ponteland Medical Group, Northumbria Primary Care
