This is the second briefing meeting for the exciting Child Parent Screening for Inherited High Cholesterol Programme which will equip you with the practical knowledge required to commence a successful local roll out of the programme. Please feel free to join even if you attended the first meeting in July as there will be some learnings from early adopters of the programme and time for questions and interaction.

The aim of the Child Parent Screening Programme is to identify families with Familial Hypercholesterolaemia in Primary Care to prevent inherited heart disease .


We are delighted to welcome Professor David Wald and Professor Julia Newton. Professor Wald who has been pivotal in this area of Familial Hypercholesterolaemia identification, will chair the session as well as sharing his wealth of knowledge and experience. Professor Julia Newton, Medical Director AHSN NENC, will update on the logistics, metrics and recruitment for the programme.

Sally Bullen is a Practice Nurse Lead/Manager with previous experience in screening children and will discuss her top tips during the session including use of the heel prick.

Rebecca McKenzie, whose child was detected in a previous programme as having FH, will share her own experiences and the subsequent consequences for the whole family.
