“There are few things more powerful than people united”

Vironika Tugaleva

Calling all community leaders, health and social care volunteers, and staff…

The challenges we face in health and social care are immense. The population is growing as well as ageing, healthcare needs are evolving, and the covid-19 pandemic has widened the health inequalities gap further. The demand on health and social care services outweighs capacity, and the pressure on many of our colleagues is greater than ever before.

But there is hope. We need to think differently, work differently, DO differently. Listening and learning from people and communities is essential if we are to tackle and overcome the challenges we face. We need to be truly radical in our approach to involvement, harnessing the ideas, energy, and enthusiasm of individuals to transform how we work.

That’s why LOC in the Lakes 2023 will be focusing on people and community involvement, looking at fresh ideas for co-production, innovation, and quality improvement. We’ll be considering how we can take action to ignite the power of people, achieving better health and wellbeing for everyone.

Keynote speakers:

  • Cormac Russell – Founding Director of Nurture Development and a member of the Asset-Based Community Development (ABCD) Institute, at DePaul University, Chicago. Cormac is a renowned thought leader in involvement, and has spent the last 25 years training people across the globe in ABCD and other community-based approaches. He will share with us why he believes assets and strengths approaches are the future, and his experience of developing communities in the most challenging of circumstances.
  • More to be announced soon!
