Jody Nichols will present this Lightning Talk which will introduce a new era for Academic Health Science Network for the North East and North Cumbria, who changed its name to Health Innovation North East and North Cumbria (HI NENC).

The new name – which came into effect on 1st October 2023 – reflects the organisation’s key role to continue to support the development and spread of innovation across the region’s health service. HI NENC’s vision remains the same to accelerate health innovation, working alongside partners from across the region.

As part of this vision, Jody will update attendees about the North East and North Cumbria Health and Life Sciences Pledge, which officially launched earlier this year. The Pledge brings together innovators, academia and the NHS, with a shared ambition to make the North East and North Cumbria region a world leading destination for excellence in health and social care innovation and research. Jody will explain more about what the Pledge is, why it has been established and future plans to reduce health inequalities, increase investment and promote economic growth.

Jody Nichols is Associate Director at Health Innovation North East and North Cumbria. She leads, develops, and supports health based national and local innovation programmes into the NHS.

As part her regional work Jody also leads on a number of programmes of work including developing a collaborative ecosystem to support HI NENC’s Innovation Pathway and the development of the Health and Life Sciences Pledge. In addition Jody is also the National lead for Implementation and commercialisation of Clinical Digital Resource Collaborative.
