Dr Alan Bagnall, Clinical Academic Lead for the Secure Data Environment (SDE), Deputy Director of the North East and North Cumbria Local Clinical Research Network and Consultant Cardiologist Newcastle Hospitals NHS Foundation Trust, will present at our next Lightning Talk

Alan is a clinical academic lead for the Secure Data Environment programme for the North East and North Cumbria. He is passionate about research and making it more accessible to the public. He sees the SDE programme as a way of enabling this and enhancing our capability as a region to create a vibrant place for research.

In this Lightning Talk, Alan will discuss the Secure Data Environment programme and the opportunities it brings to researchers in the North East and North Cumbria. The Secure Data Environment will become the default way for researchers to access NHS and care data in the future. The ambitious programme is seeking to make data more accessible – with the right protections and security in place.

Lightning Talks are designed to stimulate debate, questions, and curiosity from NHIP stakeholders. They also aim to raise awareness of the incredible work taking place across NHIP organisations for the benefit of patients and the population.

Typically, the events are a 30-minute virtual session, comprising a 15-minute presentation, and 15 minutes allocated for rapid response to questions or observations.
