The NHS Accounts for 4% of emissions produced in England and an overall of 40% in the public sector. A £329 million government funding injection has been given to more than 20 hospitals to boost energy efficiency and decarbonization leading to savings of £463 Million over the next 5 years. All stakeholders must be able to work together and deliver the highest level of patient care, whilst also meeting these objectives to reach carbon neutrality.
On the 1st of July 2022, through the passing of the Health and Care Act, the NHS became the first health system to embellish Net Zero by 2040. As the ‘Delivering a Net Zero National Health Service report’ is now issued as statutory guidance, the NHS must identify a route to a carbon neutral and for an institution this large can be challenging. The government has two targets which include reaching net zero for emissions they can control by 2040 and ones it can influence by 2045, with a clear ambition to reach an 80% reduction in all emissions by 2039.
Join us for this online conference to discover the ways major stakeholders are combatting climate change whilst delivering the highest quality of patient care. We’ll be looking at how we can change the behaviours of NHS Staff and technologies used in estates, transport, and the innovation behind going Net Zero.
