Bright Ideas in Health Awards raises money for Percy Hedley Foundation
A North East charity which supports disabled people and their families will benefit from money raised at one of the region’s largest healthcare awards.
The Academic Health Science Network for the North East and North Cumbria (AHSN NENC), organisers of the Bright Ideas in Health Awards, has donated £860 to the Percy Hedley Foundation.
The money was raised at last year’s Bright Ideas in Health Awards ceremony, held in November, which brought together hundreds of health professionals from across the North East and North Cumbria to celebrate innovation with health and social care.
Generous donations made by guests on the night will help fund the charity’s important work providing support to disabled people with cerebral palsy, communication impairments, sensory impairments and complex learning, social care and therapeutic needs.
The charity was selected by AHSN NENC Chief Executive Dr Nicola Wesley, who is currently on maternity leave, as it is supports people with cerebral palsy, a condition her older brother, Steven, lived with.
Dr Wesley said: “The Percy Hedley Foundation offers a lifeline to disabled people and their families across region and we’re thrilled to support their vital work through this donation.
“The charity puts people at the heart of everything it does and that ethos aligns perfectly with the Bright Ideas in Health Awards, which is all about celebrating individuals and teams that strive to improve care and services for people.”
The Bright Ideas in Health Awards is an annual event which has been running for the last 16 years. Due to the current COVID-19 pandemic, the awards will not take place in 2020, but they will return next year.
