Resources developed to guide innovators through evaluation process

Experts at HI NENC have created a suite of resources to support innovators with evaluating their solutions.

Evaluation, backed with solid evidence, is a key part of quality control and can inform where innovations should be scaled up and spread.

Health Innovation North East and North Cumbria have developed an Evaluation Toolkit and Planning Form to encourage innovators to consider evaluation early in the innovation lifecycle.

The Toolkit describes the vital role of evaluation and brings it to life through case studies and examples, as well as offering templates and support.

The Evaluation Planning Form encourages innovators to think through and carefully plan each stage of their evaluation from the aims and objectives, methods of data collection through to analysis and reporting, ensuring that each stage of their evaluation is carefully covered.

Dr Sean Gill, Programme Manager at the AHSN NENC, said: “Evaluation is a key component in the spread and adoption decision-making process. However, we see innovations progressing forward without the support and discipline of evaluation. We hope that these new resources will provide clear and concise guidance to help innovators navigate evaluation of their innovations.”

Before his secondment to the Health Innovation Network, Dr Sean Gill had also written a blog about the new resources which you can read here
