CVD, Lipid Optimisation and FH

Joe joined HI NENC team in 2020 as the national AAC / HIN Lipid Management and FH Programme Manager, a key national Health Innovation Network programme. He works alongside Professor Julia Newton to deliver this national programme, which merges novel therapies as well as the AAC’s lipid Rapid Uptake Product (RUP), to contribute towards the NHS LTP CVD ambitions.

Joe has a clinical background as a RGN, with specialist cardiothoracic surgical experience. Academically, he obtained his PhD in Public Health and Social Care at Teesside University in 2018. His public health expertise spans over 21 years working across primary and secondary care, as a strategic leader in commissioning, population health management, health protection and health improvement. Strategic workstreams included CVD, sexual health, suicide prevention, emotional health and wellbeing. Having worked across Primary Care Trusts, CCGs, ICSs, local authorities and Public Health England (now Office for Health Improvement and Disparities), Joe is passionate about the reduction of health inequity and tackling unwarranted variation of CVD health outcomes, through evidence informed population health management approaches.
